A live nightclub environment where network, audio, AV, lighting and web work have to make sense together.

The project

What matters.

The Outback is an ongoing technical relationship, not a one-off install. I work across the venue's digital presence, UniFi network, professional audio, AV and lighting environment, with improvements planned around real operating pressure.

01

A working venue, not a lab

Hundreds of transient clients, high sound levels, changing equipment and late-night operation make this a useful test of practical systems thinking. Reliability matters more than a neat lab result.

02

What I actually do

My involvement includes maintaining and configuring the UniFi environment, optimising practical Wi-Fi behaviour, supporting the website, investigating audio and AV, helping with lighting and troubleshooting faults across the venue. I am also a named Responsible Person at the venue. I do not present every system as designed from scratch.

03

Wi-Fi in a nightclub is not normal Wi-Fi

The venue uses a managed WAN, three UniFi switches, bonded 10 GbE connectivity and approximately seven UniFi wireless access points for an environment that can reach around 300 patrons. The primary Wi-Fi is 5 GHz with 40 MHz channels; UniFi Channel AI has been used as part of channel management. The work is practical optimisation around density, transient clients, layout, interference and a changing room.
