Venue Wi-Fi and secure networks
The problem
A hospitality venue needs guest Wi-Fi for customers, staff Wi-Fi for internal use, and a secure
network for card machines and POS devices.
What I check
Internet path, gateway, AP placement, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, switch ports, firewall rules, bandwidth,
guest isolation, and payment device separation.
What I change or recommend
Separate guest, staff and secure device networks. Rate-limit guest traffic, isolate public users,
keep payment devices away from customer traffic, and document the setup for easier support.
Fast Astro and Cloudflare website
The problem
A local business needs a website that looks credible, loads quickly and makes it easy for people to
make contact.
What I check
Site structure, copy clarity, service pages, contact form flow, mobile layout, SEO metadata,
performance, deployment setup and security headers.
What I change or recommend
Build a fast Astro site on Cloudflare with clear CTAs, local SEO basics, practical contact handling,
and straightforward future maintenance.
Venue audio system improvement
The problem
A system is loud in some areas, weak in others, unclear when busy, and difficult to understand
because of old equipment and poor documentation.
What I check
Speaker placement, room layout, amp and DSP routing, gain structure, crossover points, limiter
settings, cabling, coverage zones and DJ booth monitoring.
What I change or recommend
Map the current system, identify the biggest weak points, tidy routing, set sensible DSP starting
points, add fills where needed and plan upgrades in stages.
Van power planning
The problem
A campervan has a basic leisure battery and solar setup, but the owner wants lithium batteries,
bigger inverter capacity and better monitoring.
What I check
Battery type, solar controller, alternator charging, inverter sizing, cable and fuse sizing, loads,
charging sources, monitoring and practical safety layout.
What I change or recommend
Create a phased Victron-style plan for lithium, DC-DC charging, solar integration, monitoring and
appropriate protection, in the right order.
Technical rescue for inherited systems
The problem
Multiple people have changed a setup over time, nobody has current notes, and faults could be
cabling, networking, configuration, hardware, software or power.
What I check
Physical connections, device list, network routes, account access, logs, power, recent changes and
failure patterns.
What I change or recommend
Trace and document the setup, stabilise the system, identify likely root causes, and provide a
practical list of what to fix now versus what can be staged later.
